The craftsmanship of button making varies depending on the material. Taking resin buttons as an example, the manufacturing process usually involves mixing unsaturated resin, curing agent, accelerator, and color paste, then processing them into rod blanks in the rod material workshop or into plate blanks in the plate material workshop. Afterward, they go through the blank selection workshop to eliminate defective products, such as those with thickness not meeting requirements, unusual color patterns, incorrect models, or with rotten edges, hollow cores, bubbles, etc., all of which are considered waste. Next, in the button-making workshop, the shape must be consistent with the sample. If there are problems such as pinholes, uneven button edges, abnormal overall thickness, etc., they will also be judged as waste. Finally, in the finished product workshop, the finished products need to have the same color, pattern, and model as required, with straight and symmetrical needle holes, meeting the required brightness, with no flaws on the front and back, and packaged according to regulations.

The making of metal buttons involves mold making, stamping, electroplating, and other processes.
